If your church runs a school or preschool
A lot of the churches we talk to aren’t only a church. There’s a mother’s day out two mornings a week, a licensed preschool, or a full private school sharing the campus. Those spaces don’t run on the church’s schedule and they don’t clean to the church’s standard either.
A licensed childcare space has its own state sanitation requirements, and a school wing runs five days a week against an academic calendar rather than a worship one. Our school cleaning and daycare cleaning pages cover both in full.
We scope those spaces as their own accounts inside the same relationship. The classroom wing gets daily service. The sanctuary stays on a weekend rhythm.
Materials
Wood, stained glass and finished surfaces
Church buildings hold materials most commercial cleaners never touch, and the wrong product does damage that doesn’t show up for a year. Telling you what we won’t do is part of the scope conversation. It shouldn’t come up afterwards.
Finished wood
Pews and altars
We use pH-neutral products on finished wood. Acidic cleaners, including household vinegar, break down the finish over time. Bare or oiled wood only gets dusted. Our guide to cleaning wood church pews covers the method in detail.
Leaded glass
Stained glass windows
No ammonia, nothing acidic, nothing abrasive. Ammonia attacks the lead came holding the panels together, and the damage is cumulative and not reversible. We use distilled water and a neutral, ammonia-free product with soft cloths, and we check for cracked glass or loose came before we start.
Out of scope
What we won’t touch
Painted or historic stained glass is conservation work, not cleaning. If your windows are painted, fired or original to a historic building, we’ll say so and recommend an accredited conservator. Same for the internals of a pipe organ. We clean the console and the surrounding surfaces. Nobody from our crew opens the instrument.
Sunday-ready, whatever happened Wednesday
A church building doesn’t get used the way an office does. The same fellowship hall hosts a men’s breakfast, a youth group, a funeral reception and a Sunday school class inside seven days, and each one leaves something different behind.
So a schedule built around a single weekly visit will always be a week behind. Dinner service leaves floors that need degreasing rather than a pass with a vacuum. Craft night leaves surfaces and chairs. A Wednesday youth night leaves the classroom wing looking nothing like it did Sunday.
We build the schedule around your calendar instead of ours. A pre-weekend deep clean so the sanctuary and restrooms are ready before doors open, midweek service sized to what runs midweek, and reset work between uses of the multi-purpose spaces.
If you run back-to-back services on a Sunday morning, we can staff a rapid reset in the gap between them: restrooms checked and restocked, the nursery turned over, spills handled and the sanctuary put back in order before the next group walks in. That’s a different job from the weekly clean and it gets scoped separately.
For weddings, funerals, holiday services and community events, we handle pre-event preparation and post-event restoration as special event cleaning, booked against your calendar rather than bolted onto the weekly visit.
Nursery and children’s ministry
Your nursery has a different standard than the rest of the building, and it’s the space parents notice first.
We clean first, then sanitize. Cleaning with detergent removes the soil; sanitizing after is what does the work on surfaces children put in their mouths. Doing it in the other order mostly moves dirt around.
On shared toys, changing areas and mouth-contact surfaces we use EPA-registered products and hold the full label contact time, which means the surface stays visibly wet for the time the label specifies and gets reapplied if it dries early. Most people skip that step. It’s the difference between the product working and the product having been present.
Norovirus is the pathogen that closes a church nursery, so we select products from the EPA’s norovirus list rather than a general-purpose disinfectant. Our approach follows CDC guidance for cleaning and sanitizing in early care and education settings, linked in the sources below.

We don’t sterilize anything. Sterilization is a different process with different equipment, and any cleaning company telling a church otherwise is overselling.
